Scotland coach Frank Hadden has made three changes to his starting team for the Six Nations match against Wales at Murrayfield on Saturday.
Phil Godman is restored at outside half, Rob Dewey is selected at inside centre and Scott Murray returns at lock.
Dan Parks, Andrew Henderson and Alastair Kellock have been dropped from the team that lost 42-20 to England at Twickenham last Saturday.
Parks' dismissal was not unexpected but many had thought his replacement would be Chris Paterson, who played the last 15 minutes of the match against England at outside half and contributed to Dewey's try.
"Dan is a very good kicker, but we're bringing in a player with world class attacking skills," said Hadden, speaking about Godman's running ability.
It is likely, however, that Paterson will have game time at outside half, when again he can press his claims for the number 10 jersey.
The selection of Dewey ahead of Henderson seemed guaranteed after the Edinburgh centre made his mark coming off the bench against England.
Despite having been bullied by England, the Scotland pack has survived with only one change, Murray coming in for Kellock in the second row.
"Alistair didn't do enough on Saturday to keep Scott out of the equation," said Hadden.
Kellock was unable to command a place on the bench, the second row cover provided by Nathan Hines, who has made a quicker-then-expected recovery from a foot injury.
The concern over the full fitness of Allister Hogg persuaded Hadden to keep the Edinburgh back rower on the bench, which means Scotland will start with the same breakaway trio that played against England.
The other two changes on the bench see the recall of Simon Webster and Nikki Walker. Both are recognised as wings, but Hadden said Webster would the cover for outside centre, the position in which many would like to see the Edinburgh back perform.
Team:
15-Hugo Southwell, 14-Sean Lamont, 13-Marcus Di Rollo, 12-Rob Dewey, 11-Chris Paterson (captain), 10-Phil Godman, 9-Chris Cusiter, 8-David Callam, 7-Kelly Brown, 6-Simon Taylor, 5-Scott Murray, 4-Jim Hamilton, 3-Euan Murray, 2-Doug Hall, 1-Gavin Kerr
Replacements: 16-Ross Ford, 17-Allan Jacobsen, 18-Nathan Hines, 19-Allister Hogg 20-Rory Lawson, 21-Simon Webster, 22-Nikki Walker
