Jonny Wilkinson kicked 15 points as England beat Italy 20-7 at Twickenham on Saturday to take command in the Six Nations standings after two victories.
The flyhalf, who scored 27 points in England's 42-20 win over Scotland last Saturday, broke the tournament points record when he took his tally to 409 with his first penalty three minutes into the match. He now has 421 points.
Wing Jason Robinson scored a try in the corner just before halftime while Italy were down to 14 men with captain Marco Bortolami sin-binned. Wilkinson missed a difficult conversion.
Italy's flyhalf Andrea Scanavacca pulled back a try 15 minutes from the end following a fine attack involving half the Italian team, and converted.
France or Ireland, who also won their opening matches last weekend, can catch England on four points with victory in their clash in Dublin on Sunday. Scotland were at home to Wales later on Saturday with both looking for their first points.
