On the upside, Rob, it will allow the teams to test the efficacy of their masking efforts. Independant is the ONLY way to ensure that we catch the cheats.

About that team you mention at the end of the article: Are you referring to Team Slipstream, headed by Jonathan Vaughters, a one-time member of the US Postal (now Discovery) squad, of which Armstrong and Landis also were members? I'm not aware of any team that Landis and Armstrong actually are heading up at this time. Landis isn't currently attached to any squad, as he has to sit out until his case is decided by the arbitrators (and probably the CAS, too), while Armstrong is a part owner of the Discovery squad.

See article below Landis and Armstrong to lead doping free team By Jeroen Michiels Wed, 14 Feb 2007 18:53:18 AUSTIN, Feb 14 (CP) - A team of American riders will follow a test program during fifty weeks to prove that cycling is possible without doping. The team will be led by 2006 Tour de France winner Floyd Landis and seven-times winner Lance Armstrong. During the coming year, the riders will deliver fifty urine and blood samples. If there are remarkable differences in the values, it will be concluded that doping is used. However it seems uncertain that one of the riders will use forbidden substances while being tested regularly. The program will be supported by a former collaborator of an anti doping laboratory in Los Angeles. © Copyright 2005-2006 Cyclingpost.com

Craig. Something the East Germans were good at. No positive tests at four Olympics!

Rob, That article is a mashup of two different stories. Landis and Armstrong aren't heading up any team. The team the article refers to is Slipstream, an American pro team. Check the original article about the team and its program here: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/13/sports/others ports/13cycle.html?hp&ex=1171429200&a mp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;en=68d76ae4579 4f71b&ei=5094&partner=homepage

Shouldn't believe everything we read in the papers then! Makes you wonder whether anything is true that we read including the excuses and defences of those accused such as Landis and Armstrong!

All the accusations and counter-accusations can be really disheartening for a dyed-in-the-wool fan. It's amazing to me that more people haven't just given up in disgust and walked away from the sport. I hope someday that these rampant doping scandals will be a thing of the past.
