No player is worth that much money. You baseball fans are the dumbest, you pay for his assinine salary at the gates.

"You baseball fans are the dumbest, you pay for his assinine salary at the gates." Aside from the question of whether or not going to a game is worth the money spent on the game (a purely subjective question based on each fan's willingness to pay the price), about 50% of baseball revenue comes from television broadcasts, for which the fan pays nothing. And another large chunk of baseball revenue comes from merchandizing. So, in reality, yankees fans will pay maybe 1/3 of Roger's salary. Since he's going ot end up taking in about 19 million this year, this signing means that each yankee fan is paying $1.50 for Roger Clemens to come to New York at the stadium gates. If the Yankees make the playoffs, I bet those 4 million yankee fans will say the 1.50 was well spent.

That's the main point at the moment. They're 8.5 games behind Boston in the AL East and 6 games behind Cleveland for the WC; it's the first time this happens since 1997. Their starting pitching has been inconsistent in the first 50 days of play and they've been hampered by injuries. They should me more focused on getting their starters healthy (ok, Pavano probably will be gone for the season and maybe forever); Clemens if they're lucky they can count on Clemens starting from June 10 but they'll have to work hard to avoid falling further behind the Red Sox. Also their relief pitching has been horrible this year with Mariano Rivera starting to feel his age and he does not look unhittable anymore. For my point of view I just hope they'll continue to play so bad that they won't make the playoffs, as a Metropolitans fan that's obvious ;-)
