It's hard to enter, or to guess the thoughts of any human during a specific situation. But in last weekend's Shanghai Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton experienced what can only be described as an act of unprofessionalism.
The young British driver's game plan was to stay on course for the points and maintain his position against his closest rival in the race, Kimi Raikkonen. Hamilton's life was put at risk by tyres that showed a metal heart, literally. As a result, the championship leader had no choice but to allow his rival to pass.

But worse was to come. Hamilton's McLaren teammate Fernando Alonso cut off a total of three seconds while other cars were having problems in the rain. The final stretch was absurd, with Hamilton caught in the sand with the pits agonisingly close. But the young driver's abandonment of his car, despite the obvious disappointment, could take nothing away from his status as the new star of Formula One.
