The inaugural winner of our Author of the Month Prize is Joe Morris, one of the most prolific contributors to Sportingo with no fewer than 82 articles under his belt. Runner-up is Darren Jeory for his enthusiastic articles about his favourite team, Newcastle United.

Joe, a West Ham fan from east London, wins a £25 prize.

Sportingo editor Mark Rivlin says: ''Joe's love for sport shines through in his pieces, particularly his trips down Memory Lane to football's halcyon era when being squashed on a heaving terrace while having litres of Oxo poured down your throat was a definition of a fun afternoon out.

''Joe's writing reminds me of the Liverpool fan who wears red day and night, lives in a red brick house, drives a red car and eats red meat. One day his missus says: "Sometimes I think you love Liverpool more than you love me" - to which our Koppite replies: "Steady on, I love Everton more than I love you." Congratulations Joe, and keep up the good work."

How long have you been a sports fan?
For as long as I can remember

What is the best match you have ever seen? None that readily spring to mind. As long as they're high-scoring thrillers and the Hammers win them.

What is your dream match-up? West Ham against Real Madrid in their pomp in a Champions League Final. It'll never happen but there's no harm in dreaming.

How long have you been involved with Sportingo? Since September 2006.

What are your goals as a Sportingo author?
To be the best I can. Now who said that? Seriously, to write as well as I can and stir plenty of reaction.

How did you find Sportingo? Brilliant. A wonderful opportunity to let off steam in what I think in a considered fashion.

What do you like best about writing for Sportingo?
The chance to express myself and indulge in personal recollections

What one thing would you do to improve Sportingo? Not a bit of it. Keep up the good work.
