Greaty article Sean, I love your writing style. It would be really handy though, if you could define some of your acronyms for those of us not intimately aware of the American Football scene.

i should provide links, actually - i can do that in the future. for this article, the most-used acronym is probably "BCS", which stands for: Bowl Championship Series. in common use, 'BCS' is used to describe the BCS rankings, which is a computer-generated system of ranking the top 5 or 6 college football teams in america. from those rankings, teams are selected for the major bowl games in january, capped by the championship game, played by the two teams ranked one and two in the final BCS standings. it's a way to get around the human polling ranks, and to pretend that there is a valid champion in college football despite there being no playoffs. #2 michigan screwed things up, in a way, last weekend, by playing so well against #1 ohio state. it could be considered unfair that the #2 team in the nation must play against the #1 team in the nation so close to the end of the season. and that michigan was only 3 pts behind ohio state at the end of the game meant that perhaps michigan really was the #2 team, an
