Who really cares so much as to who has the most golds as to who has people on the podiom most. That's what is important. Yeah, gold is nice to have, but being among the top 3 of the world is enough for most.
I like how you put it. The only country with more medals than the USA is China and only in gold. Also, conspiracy or not, most of their golds have came from judged event where most (I think all actually) ties went to China instead of the other competitor.
