So who was the closest?? Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), John Terry (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Carles Puyol (Barcelona), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Kaka (AC Milan), Xavi (Barcelona), Lionel Messi (Barcelona), F
I think its interesting to note that 3 forwards were picked in the team.... Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), John Terry (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Carles Puyol (Barcelona), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Kaka (AC Mi
Absolutely comical some of those choices. But then again we are talking about foreign judges here. Ramos - was made to look like a complete amateur by Vela last year. I watched Osasuna play Real, and Vela rang rings round him. Nut-megged him twice. Sag
Cheeky f*cker...but not wrong! Its criminal Evra didn't get in, what sort of World XI is it when they dont even stick to the positions? Ramos is centre and right, as is Puyol, and Terry and Rio are central, so wheres the best left back then??! I'd lov
I was going to have a rant about this myself. I think Ramos was Spain's worst player in the summer. And Puyol is way past his best. The best left back has to be that Russian bloke, if it's not our man. Zhirkov, thats him.
Goalkeepers: Boruc, Buffon, Casillas, Cech, van der Sar. Defenders: Alves, Bosingwa, Cannavaro, Carvalho, Clichy, A Cole, Evra, Ferdinand, Nesta, Lahm, Lucio, Maldini, Pepe, Puyol, Ramos, Terry, Vidic, Zambrotta, Zanetti, Zhirkov. Midfielders: Deco, Ball
Gotta agree with you on that one Chris for Adebayor - Maldini is not at that level anymore, ronaldinho had his weight and form problems to worry about and as for Toni hahaha thats the best joke - we all saw his magic in the Euros (did he even get a goal th
I wonder why no one puts Wayne Rooney in their 11. I certainly would
He wasn't on the list of nominees Ian. Hopefully that will change next time round.
There are so many players who shouldn't be on that list its definitely a bit odd, we on the United board think they were just making up the numbers at random! Ronaldinho?! He hasn't been good for about 2 years now, thats not even going into his weight pro
Worthy of note Chris. Sergio Ramos is up for sale in January. 1. Would boost your RB position as GN is now definately getting to the end of his career, and Wes, although good, is not Ramos good. 2. Would be a sting to Real if SAF could get him. I'll s
3 words for you john.....Rafael Da Silva! Id put a bid in though just to p*ss those spanish c*nts off, mess them about, tap up Ramos, then pull out last minute! I absolutely despise Madrid now, and Im praying this season we get them in the CL. Class pla
the one drawback with Ramos is his tendancy to get booked and sent off far too often for my liking. As someone else has said ,we do not really need a right back and with Evans and Oshea as centre back cover as well as brown i think we are well covered.Ramos
Ramos is a good player, but we just don't need him. Gary Neville aside, we have Wes Brown and then the very promising looking Rafael Da Silva. And as Chris also said, there's still Danny Simpson. Although with Simpson, i'd actually be a little surprised to

Where the hell is Carra?
Haha good one abu! :)
What you think I'm taking the pizz??? OK maybe he doesn't deserve a nomination based on last season's efforts, but I still consider him one of the best centre halves in Europe, though probably on the wane a bit now.....
Most definitely on the wane for the past year or so mate....before that he was up there though.
The trouble is that fans can't see when their own players are past it. Liverpool fans think Carragher should get awards. Man U fans think Ferdinand should get awards. It's ridiculous. Anyway, why isn't Ron Harris in the defenders' section? Robert
What I want to know is if ANYONE laughed at that joke of yours Robert!? Do you still laugh out loud to Frank Spencer??
Ferdinand was the best defender in the best defence in Europe last season. That's not bias, or opinion, it's a fact. Certainly not a ridiculous idea that he should be in contention for a spot in the team of the year.
"That's not bias, or opinion, it's a fact." Wrong. It's two opinions. I'm not going to argue with them (I neither agree nor disagree) but you should really know the difference. Robert
