Those are really kind comments. The fans probably felt his loss more than he did himself. What a champ to pick up the pieces and go on to the Doubles! But we all still have this lingering question - how can off days happen to champions?

I have been watching tennis for 20 years and without a doubt Roger Federer and Pete Sampras are the two best tennis players ever lived....but roger is the greatest of all time "just ask Andre Agassi"......

Roger Federer's loss to lucky loser Guillermo Canas is not only shocking, but also humiliating. It has been a long time since the world number one stumbled at the first hurdle against such a mediocre tennis player. Alarm bells will be ringing loudly in the heads of Federer and his coach as he's starting to lose his magic touch. If this startling trend continues then Wimbledon and the US Open will be up for grabs. The fall of Federer has just begun.

Lost one is not an end of Fed's career, still long way to go, much more tournament to play. Any how, Fed's still the maestro of tennis. More story & history he can make...

you are so pessimistic. just only one loss it doesn't mean he will end his dominance.

Federer is by far the most enjoyable player to watch in a tennis match. His movement and creativity is unsurpassed. I cannot imagine anyone feeling joy over his loss on Sunday anymore than one would rejoice if the conductor of an orchestra fell limp during a concert. Not to be able to continue to watch Federer play at Indian Wells is a loss, and we now have to wait to see him play, once again, at Miami. His giftedness makes tennis interesting and brings out the fans.

Federer is true hero and will remain as ane as long as he believes in himself. Keep up the good work Roger!

dude, get help. This is the 16th time he has lost after feb 2 2004. ie more than 3 yrs for you. Apart from Nadal, no one has beaten him during that time for more than once. Again He hasn't lost to a top 10 player in last 3 yrs apart from nadal.I would be frankly scared if I were his opponent. Since his 41 match winning streak started when Murray defeated him in a second round in Cincinnati. May this time he will beat the record of 46 matches this time.

Federer is the best ever. Anyone having any doubts just needs to look at the demolition of Andy Roddick in the Australian Open Semis. Even GOD could not have done it better.

No second thoughts about who is the greatest tennis player who graced the sport, the one & only Roger Federer.

Federer is the greatest, as long as he doesnt come across Canas. Sometimes its good to see others beat him, brings new life to tennis.
