It is apparent you know nothing about actually playing sport, much less at the championship level. To say that Federer "knows" he won't get a sixth Wimbledon next year is moronic. He and the oddsmakers fully expect him to win the sixth. It is Nadal who is not likely to get to the final next year, lucky as he was to get past Soderling. And one more thing---leave God out of it. He's got more important things to do. I will say you are good for a laugh, though.

Hey Gej,i think your comment about Nadal being 'lucky to get past soderling' is so biased and unfair. Everytime Nadal gets a lead over Soderling in that match and is getting into rhythmn, the rain forces them to stop. With each break, this allows Soderling to come back into the match. To say that Nadal was 'lucky' to get past Soderling is such an injustice. I mean I love Federer and his game but do acknowledge Nadal's improvement as well. I do think he played better than Federer for most of the match (except at the crucial pts of cos).

I thought I heard Federer say something to that effect during the post match interview. Moreover, I saw the match and I wrote what I felt. I dont play tennis, I'm not a professional sportsman and knowing what it means and how it feels playing at the championship level is actually the championship players' prerogative alone, not mine, not yours. Its true however that I dont follow Tennis much, not as much as perhaps you do. So I'll take your word for it if you are implying that there is some technical issue with this article which might hurt ture fans. Gej, I would like to thank you though for reading this article. You perhaps are the only one to have read it so the article is getting its due. ;)

LUCKY??? i would say you are lucky to get away with the non-sense you have thrown at us... i could do a better job than you... you have gone nuts... GOD almighty favoured federer??? who paid you for that bunch of crap... federer was better when it mattered the most... he was not playing anywhere near his best (YEAH, HE WAS NOT PLAYING ANYWHERE NEAR HIS BEST), but still managed to pull it off... and wait till federer pukes on your prediction next year when he wins for the sixth time... amigo, you need to do some serious reality check...

Federer is a better player for sure. Better than Nadal and better than any other currently playing tennis. But Nadal showed the tenacity with which even the better could be beaten. He surely won many fans. Gej, you comment could at best be seen as funny. No body gets paid to write for sportingo! Secondly, you are preying Federer pukes next year at the Wimbledon? Last but not the least, if you missed it go and check what Federer himself had to say on the match. I'd say he was better than Nadal but had to be lucky to get away! So, a nice article !

Sure Roger played under par to win the 5th. Who wouldn't be with all the pressures he was facing - tying Borg's record, the attendance of Borg and other former champions, lack of grass play prior to the championships. That he still won proves how great a champion he is. Rafa's pressure? Hardly anything at all - to match Borg's French and Wimby title in one year? Very minor, compared to Roger's trying to win 3 slams in one year for three years in a row, let alone making it to the finals of the last 9 slams. Rafa is years younger than Roger, so playing for seven days prior to the tournament cannot be an excuse for losing the game - it's just not his time, and I don't know when it will be. As far as next year, I can count on seeing Roger lift the Wimby cup again, than Rafa making it to another final. As to who's game is getting better? Let's not forget that Roger has very recently triumphed over Nadal in clay at Hamburg. This year, the best that Nadal can attribute to getting better in grass is losin

RF's dominance of the sport has been his charm as well as his albatross -- the latter seen in the drivel presented in the print media in attempt to capture additional interest in the game of tennis. As a reporter you need to state the facts, not dreg up hype for cheap attention! RF is simply a fantastic tennis player and is several rungs above the bunch among the ATP -- INCLUDING Rafael Nadal! The only thing you got right in this lame piece is the fact that Roger was not at his finest in wimby 07 --yet he still won, and luck was nowhere in sight, pure talent! Does luck produce 24:1 aces in this match; does luck produce stellar service games to get out of tight situations in the crucial moments of the match; does luck produce consecutive scintillating and precise shots at the right moments to break Nadals serve when it really mattered. And of course, it was luck that has carried RF to 11 grand slams in the space of 3 years to Nadal's 3 (11 grand slams over multiple different surfaces!); perhaps it was lu
(11 grand slams over multiple different surfaces!); perhaps it was luck also that handed him 5 consecutive wimbledons! But of course, luck certainly did not play a part in Nadal dodging Soderling's bullet; sidestepping Youzhny's compromised play due to a sore back; and of course Nadal's 'hard work and honesty' are the only things that propelled him through such a WELL FOUGHT match with the WELL RESTED and Djokovic. If RF does not win wimby 08, I can assure you Nadal will not be the victor, because due to Nadal's struggles just to make it to the finals this year, he better have the Gods on his side, or improve his game even more to continue sidestepping bullets to make yet another final. You don't have to love RF, you don't even have to like him, but please don't disrespect neither Roger nor true tennis fans and students of the game with this rubbish just to get a few additional readers. Finally, Borg, states emphatically that RF will break the record of 5 consecutive wimbledons, (this, after watching RF
Finally, Borg, states emphatically that RF will break the record of 5 consecutive wimbledons, (this, after watching RF luckily win the 5th)I suspect he will be there to behold that monumental occasion ---hope you will be there too (without a pen and paper!)

It is so obvious how bias you all are, you are right it was not luck that caused Federer to win Wimbledon, it was God and Nadal's injury. You could continue to talk about Federed's high level of play but at Wimbledon he was looking for it and if Nadal was not trying to go for short points because of the pain in his knee he would certainly have won. Everyone talks about how classy Federer is but how classy was he cursing, getting angry with the shot spot and with the umpire when things did not go in his favor. He is classy because no one gives him a challenge but as soon as he finds somebody to do so he buckles and throws tantrums that they said he had forgotten because he has grown up now, looks like he still has more growing up to do. After Nadal beat him at the French Open, he couldn't even talk to the press, he went away and left them. When he realized that Nadal was in pain he had the biggest smile, my daughter is no tennis fan but she is the one who alerted me to his attitude. Nadal is young and coul
