Great post and I agree 100%. The Australian Open may be the happy slam but the US Open is the Party Slam. Their match was terrific and the fact that it was a night match made it all the more special. I'm glad it was Roddick that Gimelstob had to face in his last match and not somebody else. It was a perfect send off for Justin.

Fun article to read. It was a great match to watch and the epitome of night tennis in NYC. Like the city itself, it's loud, hilarious, sometimes rude but always up for a good time.

I enjoyed their banter during and after the match; more than I've enjoyed watching most of the matches I've seen this year. Personally, I wish the party slam would encourage the players to talk more between points but sadly; such entertainment is left to world team tennis or exhibition events. Of course allowing it would 'break' the concentration of some players and open up new realms of gamesmanship; which would possibly be abused. Even so; I wish I saw mutual friendly banter more often on the show courts of the US Open.
