Justine Henin is recognised as one of the greats and rightly so, but what makes her so perfect? It is a combination of beauty, variety and elegance making all aspects of her game bullet-proof.
When taking into account her height, Justine’s serve is more then impressive. It can stretch both ways and packs a punch. Her backhand stood out when she was a youngster, the stunning one-handed swipe is all about consistency. The backhand may look the best side, but the forehand is more lethal when she uses it to launch herself into the ball and deliverer a mighty thump.
Both wings are also very good defences. She can use them to block and deflect balls with a decent amount of pace. The Henin slice can show up deep inside the baseline and at the net. And the pace of the slice can easily change the flow of rallies in the Belgian’s favour. Her net play is bliss, she can do anything when she employs a volley. Justine’s speed is key to her amazing defensive structure. Despite her height she covers the court extremely well and never leaves a short ball unpunished. 'Henin's net play is bliss, she can do anything when she employs a volley'She does disappoint occasionally - an example was the Wimbledon semi-final against Marion Bartoli when her normally solid serve was a shambles on the day. Henin finished her 2007 season with five straight tournament wins. But she didn’t maintain her highest levels all the way through. She wasn’t too great in Toronto and Zurich, yet she did enough to win two tier 1s. So the Belgian doesn’t need to be at her best level to win big tournaments but when brilliance is called for, she comes up with the goods - the later stages of the US Open and Madrid final are examples. Justine’s mental strength has been tested this year. She stated that she was scared of the Williams sisters, but after straight-sets consecutive victories over them in the US open, the fear dissipated. Following her divorce, she has built bridges with her family. It seems that Justine is finally opening up to her emotions on court. But there is no real worry about her mental strength, her seven Grand Slams are testament to this. So how will Henin fare in 2008? The rivalry with Serena Williams is still alive and if the American can maintain her fitness then the two players should meet a few times. Venus Williams is also a big threat, but again, her fitness may be a factor.
Justine will be also be keeping an eye out for Amelie Mauresmo - she has said that playing someone with a similar style is tough. Mauresmo did stop Justine from winning Wimbledon and the French player will pose a big threat if she makes a comeback. Lindsay Davenport is almost certain to climb back to the top but Justine is too smart to underestimate the American. Maria Sharapova will also pitch big but when Justine is at her top form she is in control. The Serbians are along way from really challenging her. So Justine Henin comes into 2008 at the top of her game. She will need to be at her best to repeat her stunning 2007 season. But one thing is for sure, she will always be among the elite and her Slam wins will roll into double digits.

VENUS AND SERENA ARE BY FAR THE BEST!!! AT THE TOP OF THERE GAME JUSTINE HENIN WOULD CRUMBLE AT THE POWER, DETERMINATION, STRENGTH, ATHLETICISM AND MENTAL TOUGHNESS OF VENUS AND SERENA WILLIAMS!!!!

Justine is an unfair player, shows not sportsmanship and cheats. She will go down in 2008. Venus & Serena will shine once again. Good Luck Venus and Serena.....

venus and serena are not by far the best, sure they're great players but justine has shown that she is the best in this generation if you want to dispute that, just go look at the stats, which i will gladly post for you if you wish jeff, justine shows no sportsmanship? she always calls her opponents great players, saying it will be a difficult match, serena on the other hand says her opponents make lucky shots nor does she cheat, and no the 03 FO is not an example

I guess Justine is the best player cheating and always being coached during matches makes her the best.

to hear that there are still people trying to cover-up Justine's great performances. What she did at RG was wrong, I admit. The sickness at AO was justified. In between that period she played perhaps over 250 matches, won a lot, stayed humble and kept her drive and detirmation, combined by hard training, sepite her fragile build. She supports charity a lot, and never excells in so called glamour. But still, people who probably aren't able to win a game against her, need to keep on dragging 1 or 2 facts from her past, probably cause they are so-called perfect:-D Sad. Anyway, I hope we can see many good games between her and all the other great athletes, like the sisters, serbians, russians etc.2008 will be an exciting tennis year.

This site is so bias. Please alert me when you have removed your head from justin's bum. Thank you. And for the sake of women's tennis NO.
by Louise on December 18, 2007
I have to agree with 'Thangs'. Henin will be once again, almost untouchable in 08'. The William sisters dont have the stanima to keep up with her anymore, also a thing of the past. 2008 will once again be the year of Federer and Henin. Btw could someone PLEASE clarrify of the rumour of Stepanek and Vaidisova getting married is true or not? Cause it just doesnt add up to me. Even though they say, opposies do attract.

This article adds to the excitement of waiting for Justine's 2008 performance. She is the best through technique and will, and is so inspiring. Watch her play, and you WILL play better tennis! Thanks for the article!

if she's healthy for the 2008 season then i can't see why she won't have a massive 2008 season. surely old guns are still there and new ones coming up but for sure justine is prepared for this. of course no one is perfect so she can have some slumps and losses for sure but certainly she will have a good season if she's healthy. like she said, indeed she had a good 2007 season but "the best is yet to come" so we'll see. and oh my, she is defending 4 of the 6 biggest events in tennis in 2008 so this is a good movitation for her. allez justine for 2008 wins!!!

It's people like you, not able to see things through an objective view, who bring down the level of discussion. But ok, np, it's your choice I guess. I for once hope Justine wins Wimbledon(and I think she has a good change) but I see her pay for that somewhere else(at the O.games, RG). Very curious I am in prospect of thos new tennis year.
