The ATP tour has never failed to produce an extraordinary player. In the past, tennis fanatics have enjoyed the likes of Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi, but since then the tennis world has seen a rise of some of the world's best players. Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are well on there way to becoming the best players of all time.
The two men seem to be the only competition Roger Federer faces. Respectively they sit behind the Swiss star, at No. 2 and 3 in the rankings. Both have the power to not only overtake over the No. 1 man, but also etch their way into history and set themselves apart as truly the greatest players of their time.
Nadal has already proved that he is an unstoppable force on clay. For the past three years the young Spaniard has triumphed at the French Open, successfully defending his title on each occasion.
He currently holds 23 titles, which includes an impressive 265-70 winning record. Even though he performs at his best on clay, there is no denying that he is a dominant force on the other surfaces, winning titles in Indian Wells, and even making the finals at Wimbledon in 2007.

It's only and only Roger Federer who deserves to remain No.1 for atleast 3-4 more years. He is an all time GREAT and I pray that he should be remembered as the Greatest Ever Tennis player for all times to come. His personality has all the traits of a truly Great Champion. He is handsome, he is cool, he is athletic, he is ever composed-both on and off the court, he is subtle, sublime and mercurial. His mannerism is exceptional and his smile is worth a million dollars. I can't see any other player in the arena-past or present, who could match these attributes. Hence my World No.1 is and will lways be ROGER FEDERER.--------------------------- Naved Mukhtar,Karachi-Pakistan

Nadal is defenitely very popular in India. He is graceful in defeat as well as victory. He may look agressive on court, but his off court behaviour is unblemished.I hope he will be the one who dethrones federer.

Nadal definetly has the talent, passion, heart, and class to be the next no.1!! djokovic is arrogant, disrespectful and unworthy of the crown!!

As far as I'm concerned I believe if anyone deserves to take over Fedex's no.1 spot,it should be Nadal! It would be rather unfair if Djokovic becomes world no 1 all of a sudden after Rafaz been no.2 for over a 100 weeks! But judging by the point the both of them can gain in the upcoming claycourt season, Djokovic seems to have more chance of grabbing the top spot! Hopefully that doesnt happen!*fingers crodsed*

I think Novak Djokovic will be the next #1...he has everything: a great serve, forehand, backhand, movement and a decent enough net game to dethrone Federer. He easily defeated Nadal in Indian Wells and beat Fish who busted up Roger. He's won the 2 biggest tournaments of the year so far, and my prediction is that Federer's slump will cause him to go from #1 to #3 after Wimbledon, with Djokovic moving to #1 and Nadal staying yet again at #2. But I think Federer will find his game again soon and get by this rough patch and be #1 for a while again. If not by the end of this year, he will probably snatch it back from Novak next year. It seems every #1 has a bad year or a year with bad patches, and I think this year is Federer's turn. He'll be back, but I think 2008 Djokovic's year.

My hope/prayer is that Nadal becomes Number 1. Such a warrior, with such a graceful heart. I agree that the 'joker' is unworthy, and Nadal will soon find a way to shine on hard courts like he does on clay.

I'm afraid Djokovic is the one that has yet to prove his ability to defend points week after week like the top 2 and as of this week, in Miami, I fully expect to see him fail to defend his 500 points from last year's win. Federer and Nadal can both pick up points here but then it's on to claycourts where Nadal has most to defend but I see him winning Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the Olympics this year to pass Federer.

Very pathetic how the fans of the Djoker and Nadal are fighting over who will get the crumbs once Federer is no longer number one. It just won't happen anytime soon. And for Nadal, it will never happen. Since losing in the Wimbledon final last year, he won a minor clay court tournament then lost in Montreal, Cincinnati, US Open, Madrid, Paris, Shanghai twice (once to Federer 6-4,6-1), Chennai, Melbourne, another tournament I can't even remember, then Dubai, then he got creamed by Novak in Indian Wells. Eleven tournament losses in a row. If that is what the next number one looks like, tennis is done.

roger's the one who's pathetic. losing to FISH. At least rafa lost djokovic. losing to no.3 & playing well is way better than losing to no.98 & playing the worst tennis of your life. VAMOS RAFA!

Surely RAFA will be the next number 1. even if he( God forbid) isn't he will always be remembered as the BEST PLAYER the tennis world has seen. he has been No. 2 for 3 years it is now time to be No. 1 for 3 years.

" Both have the power to not only overtake over the No. 1 man, but also etch their way into history and set themselves apart as truly the greatest players of their time." What ?? Seriously? I think both Rafa and Nole are great players with great futures but to make that statement shows a severe lack of foresight.

Federer is by far the classiest tennis player that I have seen, but so is Nadal. If only uncle Tony will teach him not to spit on the court!!!! I love you Rafa, take Roland Garos and Wimbledon this year
