The Swiss Master has won each and every title there is in the tennis world. Every title except the French Open, that is.
Roger Federer has outsmarted and outclassed every player on grass and hard courts but he still has to win a Grand Slam on clay. And after his poor performances at the start of 2008, he is even more desperate to win the French Open to prevent Rafael Nadal pinching his world No.1 position.
Federer's poor performance in this season is understandable as he suffered from food poisoning just before the Australian Open and is still recovering. But he still managed to reach the semis or finals of most of the tournaments he has since played - which only shows his talent and supremacy in tennis.
To the French Open, Federer must get past clay-court experts like Nadal and Novak Djokovic - with Nadal certainly the most impressive and talented player in the world on clay, where he has never lost to Federer. The defending champion in Paris, he has beaten Federer twice in the final of the French Open.
