Both teams have much to play for in the penultimate game of the Premier League season. After a super run of recent form, Villa are three points behind Everton in fifth and are aiming to finish in a league position which would guarantee a place in the UEFA Cup next season. The Latics, despite some impressive results in their last few games, are still not completely safe from relegation, mainly because they have drawn their last three games against Chelsea, Spurs and Reading. Steve Bruce's side are five points clear of the relegation places but if they lose this one may have a nervy last day encounter with Manchester United at home to confirm their Premier League status.
