After a long 34 year absence, Italy will once again play host to the 2008 European Weightlifting Championships. No sport more embodies the manifestation of human strength than weightlifting, which demands of athletes to require a rare combination of power, speed, technique, concentration and timing for success. The competition will feature two lifts, the snatch and the clean and jerk. Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals are at stake for both lifts and the chance to secure a spot in the Olympic Games this summer.
